After living in an old farmhouse with a barn for over ten years, we are now the new caretakers of a historical building in a bright and beautiful village in Maine. It was not easy battling the housing crisis. Small town homes are all snatched up by rich city folk during the pandemic. Going through personal belongings and cleaning up our old farmhouse exposed us to a lot of dust and mold, but also the stress that comes from uprooting the very foundation of our lives. Once we completed our move, a quick celebratory picnic at the nearby park turned into a thunder shower and flash flood that threatened to swamp our unpacked boxes. Jay sprang into action, dug trenches, and redirected the flood away from our home just in time.
